A book of essays and memoirs, accounts of young middle class recruits to the British Communist Party in the 1930’s was launched at Gresham College on October 20th 2015. The book is based on a series of lectures and talks given over a period of time at Gresham College. It is edited by Nicholas Deakin and many of the contributors are the children of the young idealists of the 1930s period who were drawn to communism in the difficult times of the growth of fascism in Germany.
